Closing Keynote with Brian Selznick: Notes From a Bookseller (February 26, 2025)

Author and illustrator Brian Selznick closes out Winter Institute 2025 with an unforgettable keynote, Notes From a Bookseller: What working at an independent bookstore in the early 1990's taught me about stories, community, love and survival.

Brian Selznick’s books have sold millions of copies and garnered countless awards worldwide. He broke open the novel form with his genre-breaking thematic trilogy, beginning with the Caldecott Medal-winning #1 New York Times bestseller The Invention of Hugo Cabret. He followed that with the #1 New York Times bestseller, Wonderstruck, and then the New York Times bestseller, The Marvels. Selznick’s most recent novels, Big Tree (inspired by an idea from Steven Spielberg) and Kaleidoscope, were both national bestsellers and were named New York Times Notable Children’s Books. His forthcoming title, Run Away With Me (Scholastic), an unforgettable coming-of-age love story for young adults, will be released on April 1, 2025. He and his husband divide their time between Brooklyn, New York and La Jolla, California.
