ABA Ends Policies
The American Booksellers Association exists so that its regular membership of independent bookstores can operate successfully and constitute a vital channel in the U.S. book market.
This will be achieved at a level that justifies the resources invested while ensuring the association’s long-term financial sustainability.
This will be done in a manner that demonstrates a commitment to antiracism, equity, access, and representation.
ABA prioritizes education, promotion, advocacy, partnerships, and operational support.
We envision:
- Regular members will have resources to be successful, including: skills, technology, community, and support of their right to freedom of expression.
- Booksellers will have access to resources to support their work and welfare as professionals.
- The general public will have an awareness and understanding of the value of independent bookstores.
- Book industry partners will understand the vitality, value, and needs of independent bookstores.
- Legal and regulatory policies will reflect the interests of independent bookstores.
