Tips for Virtual Event Etiquette

How can we all have the best possible experience at Children’s Institute? Here are a few ideas!

  • Keep your camera on when and where possible; your colleagues want to see you!
  • At Ci9, you’ll be able to join on camera for the roundtables, receptions, and the workshop (if registered).
  • Many people will be joining from their home or store; background activity is to be expected, but do what you can to keep it tidy and to a minimum so fellow attendees don’t get distracted (but keeping yourself on camera is more important than anything!)
  • Mute yourself to avoid interrupting the event and to prevent audio feedback
  • Take advantage of the chat feature to talk with colleagues
  • When speaking or in the chat, be sure to share your store name!
  • Sessions have to start on time; join promptly so you don’t miss anything
  • If you have to leave a session or room, feel free to exit without comment
  • Pets are always welcome to make appearances! But we ask you to leave your meals until breaks.
